Basic connections
Basic connection services are provided to customers that require a small load or generator connection where no network upgrades are required. These types of connections are typically suited for single residential, small commercial or small multi-occupant developments.
Basic connections are automatically approved by Endeavour Energy, subject to compliance with specific thresholds as outlined below.
Connecting load
You can apply for a basic connection and receive an immediate permission to connect if you meet the following criteria:
- your land must be zoned as urban by your local council
- your maximum demand for electricity is no greater than 100 amps, 230 volts (single phase) or 63 amps, 400 volts (three phase)
- you are connecting up to four strata units that meet the above requirements

Connecting solar or battery installations
You can apply for a basic connection and receive an immediate permission to connect if you meet the following criteria for inverter connected generators:
- Inverter capacity is less than or equal to 10 kilowatts for single phase connection, restricted to 5kW export to distribution network.
- Inverter capacity is less than or equal to 30 kilowatts for three phase

Connecting temporary builder's supply
You can apply for a basic connection and receive an immediate permission to connect if you meet the following criteria:
- your land must be zoned as urban by your local council
- your maximum demand for electricity is no greater than 100 amps, 230 volts (single phase) or 63 amps, 400 volts (three phase)
- you are connecting up to four strata units that meet the above requirements

Standard connections
Standard connection services are provided to customers that require network upgrades or extensions to accommodate new connections or asset relocations. Standard connection services typically relate to larger multi-occupant developments, commercial and industrial developments as well as rural customers who require network augmentation work.

Types of standard connections
Endeavour Energy offers a range of standard connection services.
New or increased load connections
You will need to submit an application to us for all new and increased load connections requiring an upgrade or increase to your service line, including all strata subdivisions and developments and upgrades to the number of phases supplying your installation.
Generally, customers seeking to connect loads above 100 amps single phase, or 63 amps three phase, will be offered a standard connection service. Often these connections require network upgrades or extensions which are customer funded and undertaken by Accredited Service Providers.
New and upgraded electrical installations greater than 100 amps are dependent on the provision of main switchboard information as set out in the Service and Installation Rules of NSW (section 4).

Installations that are technically complex or large may be required to connect to our high voltage network at voltages from 11,000 volts to 132,000 volts. Please visit our high voltage connections page for more information on these types of connections.

Subdivisions
Landowners who are planning to subdivide land, whether they are small, two lot subdivisions or larger projects (including Torrens and Community title subdivisions), need to make provisions for adequate electrical infrastructure to enable supply of electricity and public lighting to all the lots in the proposed subdivision. If you have a strata subdivision/development, you can submit an application for this under New or Increased Load Connections (above).
Additionally, the local council may require you to obtain a Notification of Arrangement (NOA) from Endeavour Energy as a condition of the Development Approval (DA) before you can register your subdivision plan with the Land Titles office. This NOA indicates that you have made the necessary arrangements to provide electrical services to your development and that you have met the costs and any other servicing requirements identified by Endeavour Energy.

Generator connections
New or increased solar, battery or wind generation systems need to be approved by Endeavour Energy before they are connected, as the operation of these generators may affect other customers connected to our network.
Generator systems larger than 30 kilowatts require technical assessment by Endeavour Energy before being offered a standard connection service.
Once approved by Endeavour Energy, your generator installer must register your system with the Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO) Distributed Energy Register (DER). The installer has 20 days to register your system on the DER, which they can do online with the reference number quoted on your Permission to Connect issued by the energy retailer.

Special Small Services (including unmetered supplies)
Special Small Services (SSS) are usually small loads established in public places, such as road reserves, and require additional installation criteria to services supplying private property. Examples include bus shelters, public toilets, public telephones, communications equipment and locality signs.

Relocate or remove network assets
Sometimes, situations arise when network assets have to be removed or relocated to reduce their impact, provide safety clearances to structures or to make way for new or modified infrastructure in a development.
Assets may be relocated or removed by developers who fund and arrange for the design and construction works through an Accredited Service Provider (ASP). To learn more about ASPs, please see our information page here.

Embedded network connections
Embedded network connections involve connection of a private network to our network where a single metering location is provided on the incoming supply. This single metering location is often referred to as the parent or gate metering point.
A typical embedded network may contain all or some of the following components:
- embedded network connection point
- parent NMI
- retailer metering
- private metering
- child NMI
Energy can be on-sold to other customers connected to the private network as long as private meters are installed to record the energy consumed by individual connections within the private network.

Technical Enquiries
We understand that sometimes you may need technical advice from us before you are ready to submit a formal connection application. In such situations, you may wish to submit a technical enquiry to determine preliminary connection requirements prior to lodging a formal application. This service is typically suited for large or complex developments, including master planning for major projects or subdivisions, embedded networks, asset relocations and embedded generator connections.
