Changing the conversation

We were thrilled to be amongst 100 passionate news makers and headline chasers at the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue’s inaugural Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Media Forum looking at the role of the media in perceptions about Western Sydney.

The forum heard from Federal Communications Minister the Hon Michelle Rowland MP, Sydney Morning Herald Editor Bevan Shields, NSW ABC News Editor Julia Feder, Newscorp columnist Joe Hildebrand, Parramatta Mayor Pierre Esber, Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun and Canterbury Mayor Bilal El-Hayek in sessions facilitated by panel provocateurs Christopher Brown, Adam Leto and Belinda Wallis about how GWS is represented in the media, the factors influencing news and whether diverse communities across the region are being heard and accurately reflected by news makers.

To bring together the wide-ranging conversation, our Head of Corporate Communications Vida Cheeseman led an engaging discussion with ABC local communities reporter Lydia Feng, the Sydney Morning Herald's Michael Koziol and The Guardian's Mostafa Rachwani about rewriting the Western Sydney’s story to reflect its amazing potential as the region grows and matures.

Thank you to the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue, Australian Turf Club and our co-event sponsor Lendlease for their support to host this important conversation about shaping Greater Western Sydney’s future.
