Construction underway for digital substation to power Western Sydney Aerotropolis

We’re well underway with construction of a new digital transmission substation that will power the new Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy Bird-Walton Airport) and surrounding suburbs and business hubs - due to open in late 2026!

Works include:

  • Around 2000m3 of concrete being poured – enough to almost fill an Olympic swimming pool.
  • Use of around 325 tonnes of steel - almost the equivalent of the weight of 45 elephants.
  • 500 truckloads of soil being repurposed across multiple sites – that’s around 15,000 tonnes!

We’re proud to play our role in supporting the growth of the region, with reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
