Driving force
Could your next car help to power your home, keep downward pressure on power bills and help stabilise the electricity grid?
With the help of JET Charge and Wallbox Chargers, we’re laying the groundwork for customers and are the first network in NSW to trial two-way charging from an electric vehicle (EV).
With more than 300,000 EVs expected to be connected to the Endeavour Energy network by 2030, two-way charging represents one of the largest enablers of Australia’s energy transition. Using a two-way charger, an EV can discharge energy from its battery to power a home or export energy to the grid enabling energy to flow where it’s needed most.
This means as our electricity grid becomes increasingly powered by renewable energy, residential customers can store excess energy for use when the sun doesn’t shine, or the wind isn’t blowing, or use as backup power during an outage; while businesses can optimise their EV fleets to charge and discharge based on availability and energy prices.
It’s all part of our innovative approach to deliver greater customer choices which maximise their investment in new technologies. Find out more here.
