Endeavour Energy awarded Best Industrial Project at the iT News Benchmark Awards

We are thrilled to be awarded Best Industrial Project at the iT News Benchmark Awards - for our first Digital Zone Substation Transformation at South Erskine Park.

The digital substation replaces our previous solution of thousands of wires and interconnections, with a much simpler, easy to install fibre network. It was launched in June 2022 and has been a breakthrough project, reforming our traditional approach to substation design by replacing traditional copper wiring with fibre-optics—an innovation that allows for quicker deployment, cheaper operation, and the reduction of construction time from three years, down to 15 months.

This new technology has great benefits for our customers, with lower costs and speed to build, reducing pricing pressure on customer’s bills. It also provides the flexibility to adapt to future grid changes such as the transition to renewables. It is also adaptive to the reverse power flows we’re seeing with the increase in rooftop solar, allowing these flows to be measured and managed.

Our new digital substation design will now set the template for the future as we support the growth of Greater Western Sydney.
