Illawarra's smart energy future

Our General Manager Customer Future Grids, Colin Crisafulli and our Endeavour Energy team joined the UDIA NSW’s Illawarra End-of-Year Luncheon to catch up with members and discuss how we’re supporting the drive to a low carbon, renewable energy future.

Talking on a panel with Michael McKeogh and Michelle Voyer moderated by Simon Kersten, Colin highlighted how both energy generation and consumption trends are rapidly changing, with ~1.5GW of renewables (mostly residential rooftop solar) being connected to the electricity grid in the past 10 years and expectations this will at least double again in the coming five years.

Looking to this future, as the panel debated the pros and cons of the Illawarra Offshore Wind project, Colin explained that supply and demand flexibility will be critical as the energy supply chain continues to evolve.

He said that regardless of generation source or new industrial decarbonisation scenarios, “Endeavour Energy will continue to work with our customers to enable this decarbonised future. They’re depending on us to show them the way forward and enable their future energy choices at a cost they find afford.”

Thank you UDIA NSW for the opportunity to join this important conversation on the journey towards a sustainable energy future.
