Our Chief Customer & Strategy Officer Leanne Pickering recently spoke to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on the importance of energy equity in the inception of our first community battery in Western Sydney.

Launched mid last year, our Bungarribee Community Battery enables residents to access low cost, environmentally friendly, renewable solar power without the expense of installing a home battery or solar system, and they don't have to own their home.

Leanne told the ABC “We want to make sure with the current energy transition that no one is left behind. This community battery is something where everyone can participate and contribute to net zero opportunities.”

Talking about his experience using the community battery, local resident Tan Hassan told the ABC “The benefit I’ve been seeing for the past couple of months is mind blowing...(buying my own) solar battery is pretty expensive and I can’t afford it. So paying $15-$20 a month to rent part of a community battery is quite easier for a lot of people.”

Thank you Tom Melville for highlighting how we can make sure no one is left behind in the current energy transition so everyone can contribute to net zero. Listen to the full story here.
