The episode titled ‘Leading the charge: How utilities can pave the way to achieve net zero’, explores how the impact of the 2019/20 black summer bushfires on Endeavour Energy’s network led to an accelerated focus on net zero across our operations. Scott and Gina are also joined by Robert “Robbie” R. LaBorde, Jr. and Sybil Montegut of Cleco—an electrical utility company that supplies 290,000 customers in Louisiana, USA. Despite the vast geographical distance between Louisiana and the south-eastern parts of Australia that comprise our network, both areas have suffered impacts of climate change, including erosion, floods, hurricanes, bushfires, and droughts. As such, Endeavour Energy is proud to be represented in conversations about the energy transition, and to connect with like-minded companies worldwide, to discuss innovative, industry-driven solutions that improve business operations and reduce environmental impacts, while remaining affordable and reliable for our people.

Scott and Gina are ideal members of our team to speak on these topics. After beginning his career as a Cadet Engineer in 1989, Scott has gone on to hold a range of positions with us at Endeavour. He is responsible for grid transformation, asset management, and delivery operations for the safe and reliable supply of electricity to our customers. He’s passionate about opportunities to continuously adapt, reform, and evolve, and leads a team of over 1,100 people who support our operations.

Gina is an expert in environmental science and sustainability, having worked for a number of large community service and infrastructure businesses, including her role as Sustainability and Environment Manager for the City of Sydney. She joined us at Endeavour in 2021, and since then, has led the development of our Sustainability Strategy, helped us secure a landmark sustainability-linked loan in 2022, as well as a five-star Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark rating in 2021 and 2022.
