Proactive bushfire preparation

With the vast majority of Australia warned to expect a hot, dry summer and an increased risk of bushfires, we’ve been working all year round to implement a comprehensive program to prepare the Endeavour Energy network for the rigours of summer.   

So the electricity network is reliable and resilient to heatwaves, summer storms and potential bushfires, we’ve inspected over 13,000 kilometres of powerlines and 172,000 poles across thousands of kilometres to find and repair potential hazards and keep trees a safe distance from powerlines in bushfire prone areas.  

We have ongoing investment programs to upgrade the network through replacing bare overhead powerlines with covered conductors, installing fire resistant poles, and are already implementing new technologies like micro grids, community batteries, and early fault detection devices to keep communities safe and the network resilient.  

To make sure customers know how to keep themselves and their family safe, we’ve also run a public education campaign on how they can be prepared.
