What goes around comes around

We’re celebrating National Recycling Week which focuses on giving resources a second life, consuming less, reducing the need for new resources and, of course, recycling.

Endeavour Energy is working towards a circular economy and is committed to being waste neutral by 2030 by maximising the use of our assets, recycling items like power poles no longer in service and recovering materials generated by our operations. This past year we diverted 78% of our operational waste from landfill, exceeding our annual target of 70%.

We’ve achieved this by partnering with innovative green technology companies like Sircel Limited to recycle disused streetlights. In the first six months, Sircel has helped recover 99.7% of the materials from over 31,000 old streetlights we’ve upgraded to new energy efficient LEDs.

Instead of being sent to landfill, the 179 tonnes of old streetlights have been broken into their metal, plastic and glass components to be given a second life in industries like manufacturing and farming. And it's all done right here in Villawood, providing sustainable jobs in Western Sydney.
