Power update – 16 January - 7:30pm
Evening update to Endeavour Energy Storm Response
- Customers currently without power across the Endeavour Energy network: 12,500
- Power has been restored to 39,500 customers across the Endeavour Energy region following overnight storms
Endeavour Energy emergency crews are continuing work to restore power to the remaining 12,500 homes and business affected by yesterday’s damaging line of storm fronts where lightning strikes and fallen trees caused significant damage to the network.
Crews have made good progress restoring power to 39,500 homes and businesses across the Southern Highlands, South Coast, Illawarra, Blue Mountains, Western Sydney and the Hawkesbury.
We are proactively contacting affected customers via SMS (where we have contact details) to let them know if they will be without power overnight. We have around 580 reported electrical hazards, and the scale of the damage means some repairs will continue into Saturday.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as work continues to keep everyone safe as we clean up the storm damage and restore power across multiple regions.
STAYING SAFE:
- Treat all powerlines as 'live' and dangerous by keeping at least 8m clear of them. Never drive across fallen powerlines!
- Report fallen powerlines immediately by calling us 24/7 on 131 003
- Avoid all contact with wires that are hanging low, on the ground or tangled in trees and other storm debris.
- If you’re using a portable generator for power, stay safe and avoid deadly exhaust fumes entering your home.
