Power update – 28 December 7am
Endeavour Energy emergency crews have worked through the night to keep the community safe and restore power after strong winds and storm conditions disrupted power across our network at 4.30pm yesterday, causing 102 incidents, leaving 6,800 customers without power.
With total fire ban conditions in place across our network, for the safety of all of our customers, we are required to send crews out to inspect all incidents to ensure there are no potential fire hazards before the power can be switched back on.
By 8.30pm, there were 3,420 customers remaining without power, however as soon as the fire behaviour index fell below the required threshold we were able to return to normal operational working conditions and were able to restore power to the majority of customers quickly. At 1.32am this morning there were less than 400 customers remaining without power.
Safety First: Customers in storm affected areas are reminded to stay at least 8 metres away from any fallen powerlines. Treat all powerlines as 'live' and dangerous, and never drive across fallen powerlines!
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we've restored power and ensured public safety.
