Power update - 7 December 11am

Endeavour Energy emergency crews have been working to keep the community safe and restore power after lightning and damaging winds disrupted power across parts of the South Coast and Western Sydney.

Late last night, 11,000 homes and businesses on the South Coast were left without power after storms caused faults at major substations at Tomerong, Sussex Inlet, and Yatte Yattah. Power was successfully restored within three hours after these disruptions.

In Western Sydney, customers between Rooty Hill and Riverstone have been impacted by lightning strikes and strong winds, which caused blown fuses and downed powerlines in multiple locations.

Safety First: Customers in storm affected areas are reminded to stay at least 8 metres away from any fallen powerlines. Treat all powerlines as 'live' and dangerous, and never drive across fallen powerlines!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we've restored power and ensured public safety.
