Clean Community Energy To Cut Power Bills
- 31 new community batteries for four Western Sydney suburbs.
- Up to 1,200 Endeavour Energy households to benefit from cheaper, greener power bills.
- Participating households can save up to $400 annually on electricity bills*
Tuesday 1 April 2025: Endeavour Energy today launched 31 new community batteries in Bidwill, Blaxland, Cabramatta and Hobartville, in partnership with the Federal Government.
Community batteries provide an easy and smart way for neighbourhoods to tap into more solar power, making clean energy more accessible and efficient for everyone.
Endeavour Energy’s Chief Customer & Strategy Officer Leanne Pickering joined the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy, The Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Minister for Industry and Science, and Member for Chifley, The Hon. Ed Husic MP, and Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman MP, for the unveiling of the new community batteries.
“This is about helping our customers by enabling lower energy costs and making clean energy accessible to everyone,” Ms. Pickering said.
“To support the continued growth in in household rooftop solar, it’s essential we capture and store this clean energy for customers to use when they need it.
“It will play a key role in the effective and fair energy transition we’re working toward."
Ms Pickering said the 31 new batteries will help 1,200 customers reduce the pressure of rising living costs, while accelerating the shift to a smarter, cleaner grid.
"Today’s launch is part of Endeavour Energy’s community battery program, developed in partnership with the Federal Government, to roll out 76 batteries across 33 suburbs within our network.
“It’s just one of the many customer innovations we’re working on to fast-track the infrastructure needed to build a brighter, sustainable future for our customers and communities.”
In each of Bidwill, Blaxland, Cabramatta, and Hobartville, 300 renters and homeowners will be able to access electricity bill savings from the new community batteries
"Australia is already a world leader in rooftop solar, and programs like this are helping set a new standard for clean, consumer-friendly energy," Ms Pickering said.
"Customers are eager to make the most of Australia's abundant solar energy, and initiatives like this help to pave the way for a future-ready grid that benefits generations to come.
“We’re confident that real-world solutions like our community battery program provide both tangible benefits to participants and inspire broader public support and trust in the potential of collective action to decarbonise the grid.”
