Endeavour Energy sells its Huntingwood site

Endeavour Energy, the electricity network business that delivers safe, affordable and reliable power to 2.6 million people across Greater Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and South Coast, today announced it has sold its Huntingwood office site.

“The sale is part of our broader transformation from a traditional poles and wires company to an energy company that is well positioned to meet the needs of our customers into the future,” Guy Chalkley, Endeavour Energy’s CEO said.

“This is far more than just a sale of real estate. Our industry is changing and so are we. We are transitioning to a business that enables customers’ energy choices and that requires new ways of working.

“One of our key learnings from COVID-19 is that our workforce has the ability to be agile and deliver great customer service, regardless of location.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to plan collaborative work spaces that are purpose built and will allow us to grow and thrive into the future.

“Given the buoyant real estate market and our changing strategic goals, now is the right time to sell,” he concluded.

Mr Chalkley said the business had received a commercial offer following a competitive process and awarded the sale to the highest bidder. Details of the sale are subject to commercial confidentiality, including the purchaser’s identity.

Mr Chalkley added that while it was too early to say where the privately owned electricity network business will relocate, he confirmed it will stay in its Western Sydney heartland where it has operated successfully for more than 130 years.

“We expect to remain at Huntingwood for an extended period while we search for a new location that is fit for purpose and able to meet the needs of our agile and flexible workforce.

Around 800 employees were traditionally based at Huntingwood prior to the outbreak of COVID in functions that include corporate, finance, customer service, planning and operations.
