Next steps on Protected Industrial Action
Endeavour Energy is committed to resolving the wages dispute with the unions and bringing an end to protected industrial bargaining as soon as possible to relieve the impact on our customers and communities.
"We have pursued all available options to Endeavour Energy to finalise a new enterprise agreement, including holding over 60 meetings with the bargaining team and offering the best wage increases and package of improved conditions over the past 20 years."
"We have sought the assistance of the Fair Work Commission to mediate between the parties and repeatedly asked the ETU to pause protected industrial bargaining to relieve the pressure on customers seeking to connect to the network."
"We also engaged an independent mediator and invited our employees to vote on our third wages offer, which included a $6,500 upfront payment (including tax & super) and wage increases of 16.6% compounded over 4 years, with superannuation increasing to 17% during the life of the Agreement."
"Unfortunately, the offer was not supported by a majority of our employees or the ETU."
Today Deputy President Roberts confirmed that the intractable bargaining dispute matter would be heard based on the papers submitted, and that the parties were not required for cross examination. As such the hearing did not proceed. Deputy President Roberts has reserved his decision consistent with usual Fair Work Commission processes.
"We expect to receive Deputy President Roberts’ decision as soon as practicable."
"If he determines that the requirements have been met to make an intractable bargaining declaration, then all protected industrial action across Endeavour Energy’s operations will be required to cease immediately."
